I tested out ChatGPT and DallE for image generator for a presentation.
Welcome to the Learn by Doing Series, where designers and business owners can learn a useful tool quickly (less than 15 mins). We will explore industry best in class tools in AI, Productivity, Coding, Prototyping... and how they can help to propel our businesses forward.
This snappy 12 mins demo uses OpenAI ChatGPT and its image generator Dall E to create illustrations for presentations and pitch decks. Great for designer, entrepreneurs, product managers, strategists, and YOU!
Recently, I was asked to give a presentation at work about the Incubation effort I'm leading. It was packed with hefty, jargon-filled topics like B2B2C, Service-as-a-Product (SAAP) models, wraparound services, and go-to-market strategies. For my LinkedIn friends, these might be familiar terms. However, for others—especially the diverse audience I was speaking to—this jargon made the topic feel dull and borderline inaccessible.
I thought hard about how to make these concepts more relatable, especially in the context of human coaching. That's when I came up with a metaphor that still makes me drool: ice cream delivery.
To illustrate the different aspects of this metaphor, I aimed for minimalist (black and white) visuals with a retained New Yorker-style charm. Back in my Art Director days, this would have meant countless hours with a lightbox, fine-point pens, and childish outcomes.
Nowadays, they happened in just minutes using DALL·E through ChatGPT. The process taught me how to ask for help from an unexpected partner and how my Art Director skills—especially in describing the desired outcome—still come in handy. Of course, there were repeated instructions like, “Please create more diverse characters—people of color, please!” But that’s a topic for another day.
Check out these amazing New Yorker-style illustrations I DID NOT hand-drawn.
